IMELDA ANYANGA BARASA

I am a Certified Career Development Advisor, CCDA, and Talent Development Consultant with over 35 years of experience in Kenya’s education sector, progressing from a classroom teacher to a senior educational administrator and national policy executive. My career includes 27 years of school-level institutional leadership and nearly a decade of senior executive leadership at the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC. I was appointed Deputy CEO and Director of Examination Administration at KNEC in October 2017, where I oversaw the logistics, processing, security, and administration of national examinations across Kenya and championed major reforms such as personalised examination papers, smart digital padlock storage systems, electronic school-based assessment portals, and electronic summative marking portals. Before this national appointment, I served under the Teachers Service Commission as a Chief Principal and head administrator at several leading institutions, including Maryhill Girls High School, Kipsigis Girls High School, Hill School Eldoret, Tambach Teachers Training College, Our Lady of Victory Kapnyeberai Girls, and St. Joseph’s Chepterit Girls. My expertise includes curriculum implementation and supervision, large-scale examination logistics and security, financial and board management, psychometric assessment, skills-gap analysis, career advisory, transformational leadership coaching, and multi-stakeholder coordination. I have guided thousands of students, professionals, and executives through subject selection, career planning, leadership development, and organisational transitions. I hold an MBA, a Bachelor of Education in Business Studies and Accounting, and a Diploma in Education Management, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration with a specialisation in Strategic Management at Moi University.
